You ever wonder why that song sounds so familiar? You recognize the beat but can’t remember where you heard it? Think of a Music history lesson and the textbooks you will be using are Turntables. In the first section of this course students will learn the fundamental skills needed to become a DJ and get hands on experience learning and using the equipment as well as techniques. Beatmatching, mixing, blending, hard cuts and scratches will be the techniques learned throughout the first half of this course. In the second half this course will dive deep into “the good ole days” of music and showcase how artist of today sample from legends. This course isalso great for kids because it gives a sneak peek into how their favorite artists create their hits! By the end of the course, both parents and kids will practice blending and matching present day hits with their sampled predecessors. Parents will finally be able to name that tune and children will think of music history in a whole new light! This class is for both students as well as parents and participation is required.

This program is sponsored by the Epsilon, Nu Omicron, and Xi Phi chapters of Omega Psi Phi.
